Edusentro | Widespread Class Suspensions, WFH Setup in Government Amid Stormy Weather
MANILA — Classes at all levels in Metro Manila and 37 other areas have been suspended for Thursday as heavy rains from the southwest monsoon (habagat), intensified by Tropical Storms Dante and Emong, continue to affect large parts of the country.
Malacañang announced the suspension through Memorandum Circular No. 91, signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin. The order also allows government employees in non-essential roles to work from home, while frontline agencies in health, disaster response, and basic services are expected to continue operations.
Among the affected provinces are Zambales, Pangasinan, La Union, Ilocos Norte and Sur, Benguet, Cavite, Laguna, Quezon, Batangas, and parts of Bicol and Western Visayas.
Local governments outside the listed areas may implement their own suspensions based on local conditions. Private companies are free to decide whether to halt operations.
