Edusentro | The Centennial Mango Tree | At the center of Baliuag University’s school campus is a majestic mango tree, over a hundred years old. Its roots reach deep into the ground. This old tree has seen a century of history, quietly watching countless milestones such as graduations, friendships, and dreams.
Before the historic unveiling of the mango tree marker, the school administrator sought the help of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) for the tree’s rehabilitation and treatment. A tree surgery was done by a team of forest and tree scientists to restore the century-old mango tree back to health.
The unveiling of the mango tree marker during the school’s Centennial event serves to honor the tree’s long presence, symbolizing the school’s spirit and legacy. The mango tree stands for growth, strength, and community. Its wide branches provide shade, offering a peaceful spot for students to think and connect with each other. The tree represents the caring environment the school strives to give under its #alagangBU principle. The sweet and plentiful fruit it produces symbolizes the knowledge and experiences students and colleagues gain here.

Baliuag University, the first autonomous university in Region III since 2001, was established in 1925. What started as Baliuag Institute with 75 high school students transformed itself to Baliuag Junior College, then Baliuag Colleges and to a full-fledged university named Baliuag University in 2001, offering comprehensive programs from Kindergarten, Grade School, High School, College and Graduate Studies.
